Bressuire Highland Games: When the pipers go marchin' in

As usual, the pipers came marchin' in during the IHGF European Pro Championship in Bressuire-the-Scot, France And, of course, it was a real pleasure for our photographers with such an awesome background in the old middle-aged Bressuire castle. Bressuire also had the priviledge to welcome Robert WATT, one of the stars of solo piping with quite a few titles of world champion. It was a real pleasure to listen to his solos and his "Amazing Grace" was really amazing. A pipe-band competition Robert WATT, just like drum-Major Peter...

You know Watt?

... De la Salle Scout Pipe-Band in Bressuire: Playing in the rain

The video is a flashback to the Highland Games World Championship held in Bressuire in June of this year. After piping in the sun on Satuday.... ... the De La Salle Scout pipeband from Waterford City in Ireland played throughout Sunday's atrocious weather conditions until they could no longer run the risk of waterlogging their instruments. Sunday: playing in the pouring rain To pay tribute to their stoicism, here is  a short ditty to be sung to the tune of Gene Kelly's famous Singin' in the Rain. Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo,... Hammers and pipers in Bressuire: a giant ten pin bowling alley

You can't imagine Highland Games without pipers.Whether they take place in Bressuire, France or anywhere else in the world! But have you ever noticed that when the hammer throwers start throwing, the pipers are no longer piping? In fact, they are nowhere to be seen having run for cover up to the castle forecourt. How can we explain such behaviour on the part of those whose ancestors in days of yore used to boldly lead Scottish armies into battle against their English foe, bagpiping the Scots to victory as the English fled in... Aubigny-sur-Nère, France: 200 lassies in the bag

Just before Bastille Day! Auld AlliancesThe pipers will definitely celebrate the Auld Alliance between their lassie and whisky. But they'll also celebrate the Auld Alliance between France and Scotland.Aubigny, in fact, is the city of the Stuarts..And every year, just before Bastille Day, they celebrate the... Bressuire: When the piper becomes a drum major

Everybody Knows (or should know) that BRESSUIRE in France will host the Highland Games World Championship in June 2015. Of course, for this exceptionnal venue we already have the castle, the experience of 220 volonteers and the know-how of our president Jean-Louis Coppet. In Bressuire we also have quite a few throwers or caber-tossers called "the Bockers" and a couple of pipers for "Scotland the brave" or "Amazing grace". A training session in Germany But, unfortunately we had no local drum major. Now that's a thing of the... [Lire la suite]
