Bressuire Highland Games: When the pipers go marchin' in
As usual, the pipers came marchin' in during the IHGF European Pro Championship in Bressuire-the-Scot, France
And, of course, it was a real pleasure for our photographers with such an awesome background in the old middle-aged Bressuire castle.
Bressuire also had the priviledge to welcome Robert WATT, one of the stars of solo piping with quite a few titles of world champion.
It was a real pleasure to listen to his solos and his "Amazing Grace" was really amazing.
Robert WATT, just like drum-Major Peter MacNamee, also accepted to be in the jury of a bagpipe competition that took place on Sunday in the old castle.
The competitors were five French pipe-bands from all over the country
The results
Medley:
1st: Paris and district pipe band
2nd: Aquitaine Highlanders
3rd: Piperade South West Pipers
2/4, The Balvenie trophy
1st: Paris and district pipe band
2nd: Askol ha Brug pipe band
3rd: Aquitaine Highlanders
Marching and Discipline
Askol ha Brug pipe band
There was of course march and discipline all through the week-end and it was a fantastic opportunity for our photographers with the old castle in the background.
Of course, the bar was left to the pipers...
It was a kind of "my lassie in the bag, good whisky in the pipes".
For the Paris and District pipe-band who had won the 2/4 Balvenie trophy, it was OK. For the other bands, they just had to pour beer in their pipes... Just an illusion
Dream or reality? We'll never know...
