De la Salle Scout Pipe-Band in Bressuire: Playing in the rain
The video is a flashback to the Highland Games World Championship held in Bressuire in June of this year.
After piping in the sun on Satuday....
... the De La Salle Scout pipeband from Waterford City in Ireland played throughout Sunday's atrocious weather conditions until they could no longer run the risk of waterlogging their instruments.
Sunday: playing in the pouring rain
To pay tribute to their stoicism, here is a short ditty to be sung to the tune of Gene Kelly's famous Singin' in the Rain.
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo, Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo, Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo, Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
We're playin' in the rain
Just playin' in the rain,
What an awful wet Sunday
It's pelting again!
We're drenched to the skin,
But scouts must be prepared,
It takes more than a downpour,
For us to be scared.
Let the stormy clouds chase
Nearly all from the place,
We came here to play
And the rain we will face
We plead but in vain
"Sun come out again!",
Just playin'
Just playin' in the rain
Dee-dah, dee-dah, dee-da etc
I am pleased to report that the pipers can't have been too traumatized by the inclement, most unseasonable weather (to be frank, I suppose being Irish helped).
Bressuire, the most popular venue of 2015
When it recently came to voting for the most popular venue of 2015, Bressuire's Highland Games won hands down.
To quote Pat Murphy, the pipe major:
"Our attendance at your festival came out as the highlight of the band's year".
Thank you Pat and all members of the band for that heartwarming vote of confidence and for remaining so cheerful on that oh-so-wet Sunday.
You are welcome back any time.
