Saint Patrick in Bressuire, France: celebrations in green and blue
For many years now visitors to the Highland Games in Bressuire have been delighted by the young dancers of Scoil Rince Mobhi, a school of dance situated in Glasnevin in the northern suburbs of Dublin.
Well aware of their enormous potential, the Bressuire Leixlip Twinning has invited Scoil Rince Mobhi to come to Bressuire and celebrate St Patrick's Day with the people of Bressuire and the surrounding area.
20 dancers and 5 musicians on stage
Accompanied by 5 musicians, and under the expert direction of Aedin Uí Mhaoiléidig, 20 dancers will present two shows at Bocapôle : one on Saturday March 16 at 8.30pm and the other on Sunday March 17 (Paddy's Day itself) at 4pm.
The musicians/singers will play a variety of instruments: the accordion, violin, bodhran, harp and tin whistle.
Aedin has chosen two themes : the story of St Patrick for the first part of the show and the history of Irish dance for the second part.
The talented young dancers of Scoil Rince Mobhi have won numerous awards in national and international championships.
And everybody enjoys their show during the Bressuire Highland Games.
They have taken part in European festivals in France, Spain, Denmark and the UK. They have also performed as far afield as the US, China and Sri Lanka.

The greening of the townhall
On your way to Bocapôle, don't forget to pass by Bressuire's Town Hall which will be bathed in green light, just like in 2017 (a photo by Jacques Paquereau)
Indeed, Bressuire will once again take part in the Greening, an Irish initiative aiming to highlight Ireland and St Patrick's Day by illuminating world landmarks such as Niagara Falls, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro, the London Eye and ...... Bressuire Town Hall.
A coloured evening
And then off to Bocapôle to admire the dancers' splendid blue costumes richly decorated with Celtic symbols.
In short, a colourful evening in store and one not to be missed!
A treat for both the eyes and the ears!
