Lightweights in Luzarches : the European title for S. DUMITRICA

He had won the lightweight world championship in 2016.

He has just become the new IHGF lightweight European Champion in Luzarches, France.

That's a new title for Stefan DUMITRICA from Roumania.

On the victory stand:

1- Stefan DUMITRICA, Roumania, 15 poits

2- Sando LUSICIC, Germany, 17 points

3- Enrico REISS, Germany, 32 points

It must be noticed that the young Frenchman Wesley VERGER finished 7th, which is very encouraging for his future.

Women: a landslide victory for Stéphanie FREY

In the women's competition with nine throwers, Stephanie FREY from SWITZERLAND (sixth from left) won the five events and had an easy victory.

Gabrielle ISSUREE in the foreground finished second with 10 points. Bruce AITKEN once again

In the A competition, the former world champion Bruce AITKEN from Scotland is still the boss. He won the eight-event competition without real difficulty in spite of an opposition coming from Belgium.

The results:

1-Bruce AITKEN, Scotland 11 points

2-Mickaël SIMONS, Belgium 25points

3-Dominic MATTYS, Belgium 35 points

4-Stephen KING, Scotland 37,5 points

French throwers are closing the gap

In the A competition, French champion Fabien PATHENEY finished 5th and Maxime BILLAUD, a Bressuire Bocker, finished sixth after beating a new French record: 12,33 meters for the light stone.

In the B competition Cyrille BOUCHER finished second, just behind Tom MISSOTEN from Belgium.

And Bastien CAIVEAU, only 18, finished 5th and could be a leader in France in the years to come.

With Wesley VERGER and Bastien, the new young throwers in France are very promising..

Swiss and German Masters

Urs ZENTNER from Switzerland won the Masters with Alexandre WENDLING from Germany, second and Bernd WOLF from Germany, third.

The Highland Games in Luzarches, France with 60 throwers from 10 nations and 5 different competitions were a real success in a fantastic setting: the Mont Griffon Golf-club.
