The Bressuire IHGF Worlds at school : one champion, one class
Bressuire, France will have the priviledge to host the IHGF Highland Games Worlds with the crème de la crème of international throwers.
And for this historic first, the Highland Games go to school...
Since September 2014, twelve French classes within forty miles of Bressuire have been working more particularly on Scotland and on the Highland Games.
They are all fifth-graders and sixth-graders, aged nine to twelve.
And they all have the opportunity to discover the Celtic World in their own school.
The champions, the history of the games and of, course, the pipe-bands are part of this year's new curriculum.
Just the same for "Flower of Scotland" and the tartans!
A school programme about the Celtic World and the Highland Games
The pupils can hear about Scotland and discover the Highland Games at school during the English and History lessons, of course.
But also during the Maths lessons with the creation of celtic arches (photo)...
And the Highland Games also stimulate their creativity for music or drawing lessons.
And most of their works will be posted on the blog till the IHGF Worlds in Bressuire... Some of them are already published in French or English on the blog.
You just have to click on Highland scolaires
The blogger also organises quizzes for the pupils: number 1 was about the Celtic champions, number 2 about the tartans and number 3 about the links between Olympic Games and Highland Games.
Three more quizzes are to come in the next weeks.
Matching one class and one champion
And, last but not least, each of the twelve classes are matched with one of the twelve champions who will compete in Bressuire.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Young girls and young kids, here are the twelve champions in alphabetical order:
