Festivities in the Eire
The weekend of May 14th will mark the 15th anniversary of the twinning between Bressuire and Leixlip in Ireland.
So festivities are in the Eire!
It’s an appropriate moment to travel back in time to the Bressuire Highland Games of 2005 when Ireland entered its very own athlete: Eoin WENGEL.
Although only 19 years old and weighing in at a “mere” 110 kilos, Eoin managed to Wengel his way into the Sunday finals by qualifying in the weight and hammer events.
Leixslip, lip, lip-hourrah
He was thus able to measure up to professionals such as Gregor Edmunds, Bruce Aitken and Woult Ziljstra.
A fine example of how the Bressuire-Leixlip twinning has promoted sporting events.
So here’s wishing the twinning a very happy Birthday!
Leixlip, lip, lip – hourrah!
